Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering at HERMES
نویسنده
چکیده
The HERMES experiment at DESY, Hamburg used the HERA 27.6GeV electron/positron polarised beam to study the structure of the nucleon. Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) provides access to Generalised Parton Distributions (GPDs) via measured azimuthal asymmetries. Data was collected from 1995 to 2007 with both longitudinally and transversely polarised gas tar-gets(H, D or heavier nuclei), which has been analysed to provide the most diverse set of DVCS azimuthal asymmetries. A Recoil Detector was installed in 2005-2006, which has provided improved exclusivity of the beam spin asymmetry measurement. The latest DVCS results from HERMES will be presented including the first result from the Recoil Detector.

Future Measurements of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering at HERMES
Prospects for future measurements of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering at HERMES are studied using different simple models for parameterizations of generalized parton distributions (GPDs). Measurements of the lepton charge and lepton beam helicity asymmetry will yield important input for theoretical models towards the future extraction of GPDs.
متن کاملDeeply Virtual Compton Scattering at HERA
Deeply virtual Compton scattering has recently been studied by three HERA experiments, H1, ZEUS and HERMES, covering a broad range of kinematic regimes. We present cross section measurements of the two collider experiments in the kinematic region 2<Q<100 GeV and 30<W<140 GeV, and compare them to QCDbased calculations. HERMES measurements of azimuthal asymmetries and their kinematical dependence...

We investigate the possibility to acquire information on the generalized parton distribution E and, through a model for E, also on the u-quark total angular momentum Ju by studying deeply virtual Compton scattering and hard exclusive ρ electroproduction on a transversely polarized hydrogen target at Hermes. It is found that a change in Ju from zero to 0.4 corresponds to a 4σ (2σ) difference in ...

At the high energy of √ s ≃ 300 GeV delivered by HERA using colliding electron (27.5 GeV) and proton beams (820 GeV), the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering process (DVCS) ep → eγp is of diffractive nature. Comparing to the lower energy experiments CLAS[1] and HERMES[2,3], additionally to the direct quark contribution (LO contribution shown in Fig. 1a), the color singlet two gluon exchange is al...

We study deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) on a deuteron target. We model the Generalized Quark Distributions in the deuteron by using the impulse approximation for the lowest Fock-space state. Numerical predictions are given for the unpolarized cross sections for the kinematical regimes relevant for JLab and HERMES at HERA. Differential cross sections show the same pattern as for the pr...
